Hello, I am Heather Lundervold - the owner, instructor, creator of Christmas Design Institute (CDI) and your mentor. I am also the owner of Elves to the Rescue ~ Professional Holiday Design & Installation, a premier decorating service focusing on luxury holiday design and the sister company to Christmas Design Institute.  Over the last 25 years, I have been blessed to work in the luxury design space dedicated to providing high quality, white glove service, well trained team members and stunning holiday transformations for our clients. I take great pride in my work and provide premium service for my clientele.  In 2000, I purchased and successfully operated a flower shop for over a decade. I eventually sold my 7-figure business to focus solely on CDI and my holiday clientele. I have now built Elves to the Rescue “Professional Holiday Decorating”, my installation company into a 7-figure business servicing over 100 clients a season.  Once I began to focus on holiday design full time, I recognized a lack of resources for aspiring holiday decorators and business owners. That is how and why the Christmas Design Institute was created — to teach everything there is to know about professional holiday design, from decorating your home to building a thriving holiday business.     Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to work alongside many other top designers, professional decorators mastering the art of holiday design and learning the elements and principles of Christmas design. I received my certification from American Institute of Floral Designer (AIFD), have a marketing degree from Arizona State University, a fashion merchandising degree from Phoenix College and served as a Business Network International (BNI) director for 8 years.   I have been featured in several media outlets such as; The Phoenix Homes Gardens Magazine, USATODAY, Front Doors publication, ELLE DECOR, Arizona Foothills Magazine, Success Profiles Radio, Images Arizona Podcast, The Prescott Times, Smartfem Media Group, Images Arizona, American Dream, Sonoran Living, Taste of Home, KTVK 3TV, CBS 5, and 12News.   I travel all over the country teaching workshops, speaking at conferences, designing for my clients and the showrooms for Kurt S. Adler. My client list includes everyone from a basic redesign to high-profile entertainers, A-List celebrities, high net worth individuals, professional athletes, upscale residential homes, commercial properties, retail spaces, resorts, restaurants, HOA’s, golf courses and everything in between. Some of the national brand clients I design for include FOX Broadcasting, PAYPAL, WIGWAM Resort, Matson Money, Discount Tire Corporate, Phoenix Suns just to name a few.  I focus most of my work in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona - Los Angeles, California - Las Vegas, Nevada - Dallas,Texas and Bend, Oregon.   Beyond my holiday businesses and flower shop, I have started, sold, owned and operated several other successful ventures.  I currently own 2 other businesses non related to Christmas.  1 is in the horse industry and another is in the wellness space which is also really fun. Being self-employed and a business owner for over 25 years has been nothing short of amazing. When it comes to running a business and Christmas design, I’ve done it all!  I am super passionate about helping others learn the craft of Christmas decorating while sharing my entrepreneurial expertise. After years of working in the industry and a need to hire more designers for my team, I have learned there are limited resources to learn how to holiday decorate, become a professional holiday designer and how to run a successful business. Christmas Design Institute is the only school that I know of that is a one stop shop.  I teach everything from the principles of design, business concepts, how to start, operate a successful holiday business and mentoring.  If you are here just to learn and elevate your designing, I teach that too.   My expertise in design has allowed me to establish a reputation as a trusted professional for those looking to elevate their holiday decor.  I am passionate about helping others, sharing my knowledge and teaching my students everything there is to know about holiday design.
